The place: Disney Wonder Cruise Ship

Overall Verdict: “Fun…but where are the roller coasters?”

What actually impressed them

• Unlimited food (always a win)

• Free room service until midnight—their favorite perk by far

• Being able to roam the ship without parents

• Rotating themed restaurants made dinner feel different every night

• Huge onboard movie theater

• Fireworks at sea

• Sports deck with basketball and ping pong

• Unlimited soda on the pool deck

• Shore excursions, especially getting to explore another country

• Disney character meet-and-greets

What got an eye roll

• Most of the Broadway-style shows (great productions, but geared toward younger kids and Disney adults)

• Pirate Night—fun for little kids, but teens mostly hung out for the fireworks afterward

• The splash pad and water slide (both felt geared toward younger children)

• Having to bring a parent just to use the gym

• A surprising lack of high-thrill activities (where’s the roller coaster or rock wall?)

Attention Span Check

The first day was exciting, but after a few days they started looking for bigger thrills.

Phone Check

Did they reach for their phones? Mostly during downtime between activities—not because they were bored, but because there wasn’t always something designed specifically for teens.

Teen Club Check

Is there a teen club? Yes—but it’s mostly couches, games, and a place to meet other teens. Once they made friends, they rarely went back.

Freedom Factor

Can teens safely explore without their parents? Yes—and for these two, that was one of the biggest highlights of the cruise.

Parent Worth-It Meter

Worth it if: You’re big Disney fans—or you’re traveling with younger kids or tweens. Also, if you just want a safe place for your kids to break free (Disney Cruises don’t attract the Spring Break party crowds that are often found elsewhere—the late night bar is NOT the highlight—so it’s a relatively tame environment).

Skip it if: Your teens are looking for adrenaline, big water slides, zip lines, surf simulators, or other high-energy attractions they’ll find on some larger cruise lines. Disney excels at family entertainment, but older teens may outgrow many of its onboard offerings.
